304 and 316 Stainless Steel Plate

Both, slip resistant 304 and 316 stainless steel plate are utilized in food processing facilities.

304 and 316 stainless steel plate are commonly used metal.  You can find both alloys in many home products such as pots and pans, cooking utensils, coffee carafes, appliances and flatware, among others.  In addition, 304 and 316 stainless steel plate are used throughout commercial and food processing facilities because of its strength, aesthetic properties, ease of cleaning and its ability to hold up to harsh acidic chemicals.  In fact, most food processing facilities may only use 304 and 316 stainless steel machinery and flooring because of sanitation qualities. 

Although 304 and 316 stainless steel plate have very similar qualities, there are slight differences between the different alloys that may help distinguish which may be better for the specific application.

316 stainless steel plate:

  • Also known as marine grade
  • Will not oxidize or turn black
  • Often used in more aesthetically necessary applications where appearance and visual interest remain necessary  

 304 stainless steel plate:

  • The more commonly chosen alloy 
  • Can be easily fabricated and welded
  • Slightly less expensive than 316 stainless steel plate

Alloys 304 and 316 stainless steel plate have high demand and have resistance to corrosion and staining.  Both stainless steel alloys are low maintenance, relatively low in cost and are aesthetically pleasing, making it an idyllic base material for a host of commercial and industrial applications.
