Atlantic City Casinos And Hotels Use Slip Resistant Metal Flooring For Safety

Combining safety and aesthetics has always proven to be a challenge for many commercial environments. From apartment buildings to condominium complexes, restaurants to hotels, and city high rises to city streets; the safety of pedestrians, employees and patrons is always top priority. SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring has once again combined visual appeal and safety for two Atlantic City hotel and casinos in 2007.

SlipNOT® has been working with one of Atlantic City’s preferred metal fabricators for over 5 years to combine safety and aesthetics in casinos and hotels. Caesars Palace and the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa have used SlipNOT® slip resistant products before and this year Bally’s Hotel & Casino and the Trump Plaza Atlantic City Hotel & Casino have requested SlipNOT® floor plate be used in their facilities. Both hotels were looking for slip resistant solutions in their kitchen and elevator areas. Bally’s who has used SlipNOT®, in the past was impressed with the longevity, durability and slip resistance of SlipNOT® floor plate and wanted to use it again in other areas.

When asked about the project an estimator for the fabrication company said “Ballys was extremely impressed with the material. It must have been 4 or 5 years ago when we installed their first order ofSlipNOT® stainless steel plate and it looks just as great today as it did the day we installed. They are amazed at just how slip resistant the SlipNOT® plate is.” He went on to say “We’ve used SlipNOT®, in casino hotel elevators and kitchens all over Atlantic City. SlipNOT®, stainless floor plate is used because of its outstanding durability. Unlike diamond plate SlipNOT® plate has a flat surface, making it easier for wheeled carts to coast over it, and the traction is amazing.”

However, commercial projects require building materials which enhance the overall structural appearance in order to attract tourists and buyers to drive business and economic growth.

SlipNOT® was sought out to supply Aluminum Grip Plate® for the construction of a series of docks and floating pedestrian bridges over the Willamette River. The project was part of the River Renaissance Initiative, a river recovery plan created by eight city bureaus and acknowledged by the American Planning Association and American Rivers as the most ambitious river revitalization effort in recent US history.” The local marine company working on the project used over 1,100 sq ft. of grade 2 aluminum on aluminum slip resistant SlipNOT® Grip Plate® for the application.

SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring said, “This was an important venture for the City of Portland. City officials wanted the revitalization project to help enhance their economic system. The docks and bridges had to help cut back on liability costs by providing slip resistant coverage and at the same time had to be cohesive with the surrounding landscapes new revitalized scheme. It’s not practical to include a great looking stair tread, nosing, or ramp as a safety feature if it’s really just a hazard to the public and a liability for their client.”

SlipNOT®, stainless steel plate, stairs treads, and grate were used in the construction of The TriBeCa Bridge, a pedestrian bridge over West Street in the TriBeCa (Triangle Below Canal Street) neighborhood of downtown Manhattan. The bridge is an access point for New York’s Stuyvesant High School, an area landmark and one of the city’s three esteemed Specialized Science High Schools. TriBeCa once an industrial region made up of mostly warehouses has since evolved into one of Manhattans premier districts. Since its revitalization warehouse buildings have been transformed into stylish lofts, as well as high-end restaurants and boutiques.

City officials designed the bridge as a safety feature for pedestrians, allowing them to bypass dangerous West Street traffic. Construction of the bridge eliminated one pedestrian hazard however officials had to consider the added risk of slip and fall accidents. City engineers who worked with SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring for other municipal applications contacted SlipNOT® once again for the TriBeCa project.SlipNOT®‘s slip resistant plate and grating had proven to be durable and long lasting, and the slip resistant stainless on stainless products had the luster and corrosion resistant qualities city planners wanted in addition to the outstanding safety features.
