Heatec Inc., a company that manufactures liquid storage tanks and heaters in Chattanooga, TN, was determined to reduce ladder usage in their facility and therefore increase safety. Ladders account for over 16% of fatal injuries and over 100,000 non-fatal injuries a year according to the Bureau of Labor statistics. Eliminating ladders to eliminate slip and fall injuries is a fantastic goal, but how is this possible when ladders are frequently used by maintenance and manufacturing individuals to reach high overhead areas?
