AIA (American Institute of Architects) members and architects of certain states (states with mandatory continuing education) must complete continuing education credits for license renewal.  In the past, Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW)-related training required 8 credits a year and could be self-reported by the architect.  For 2012 the number of HSW credits has increased to 12 and can no longer be self reported.
