More Focus Needed on Workplace Safety News
In 2010, 115 people died from workplace deaths. This number was far fewer than any previous number recorded by the Indiana Department of Labor since 1991. These facts were stated in an editorial titled “Number of fatalities in Indiana was at an all-time low last year” on the News-Sentenial.com website about workplace deaths and how they have been decreasing over time but they don’t seem to get any news attention. Last year only 4,500 people died from workplace related deaths, including deaths related to the explosion off the golf coast last year and other major workplace disasters. This may seem like a large number but has remained steady or fallen for the last few years.
Companies have steadily been improving workplace safety measures. They have implemented safety programs, procedures and rules pertaining to many aspects of working environments. Workplace deaths can further be helped by an increase in using slip resistant products of all kinds. Slip resistant flooring, shoes and other options can help decrease accidents and fatalities in the workplace as well.
SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring manufactures slip resistant products used in various industries and for various applications. The SlipNOT® surface is an all metal non-slip coating that is applied to metal substrates. Plate, grating and ladder rungs are some of the many products that can be coated with SlipNOT® to increase traction in slick areas.
