Hot Commodities

“Hot Commodities” in ENR Magazine depicts a growing problem in the United States consumer industry.  An increasing amount of goods sold are counterfeit goods that may cause injury to users.  Due to increase use of the internet for buying and exchanging goods, it has been increasingly easier for counterfeiters to access consumers and exchange information to increase the likeliness of their products to the real products.

In 2009, 260.7 million counterfeit goods were seized in the United States.  Increasingly, more of the goods that are counterfeit are industrial goods such as electrical parts, cranes, pipes and tools.  There are several types of counterfeit industrial goods, first, there are “Class B” counterfeits, which look like the legitimate product but are produced from poorer quality materials.  Another type are products with forged labels; such as fake testing labels or serial numbers.  These types of counterfeit goods can cause issues for supervisors who believe they are purchasing high quality products when in fact they purchased counterfeit products that will not provide the safety or accuracy that they need.

To ensure products purchased are not counterfeit goods.  Companies and supervisors should be conscious of the companies they are purchasing from.  By purchasing from companies that manufacture in the United States, supervisors ensure they are receiving quality products.

SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring manufactures all products in Detroit, Michigan.  SlipNOT® ensures the highest quality of products possible for its customers so that customers can feel comfortable knowing they purchased a quality product.  SlipNOT® also makes effort to ensure that a significant amount of SlipNOT®’s spending is on made in U.S.A. goods.

It is vital that companies get the quality they are paying for when spending money rather than spending on risky counterfeit products.  Companies and supervisors can ensure they are getting quality products by making effort to purchase through companies that manufacture within the United States and provide legitimate products that tested and proven to provide safety and accuracy to workers.
