The Situation:

A large fabricating company contacted SlipNOT® to provide non-slip ladder rungs for mezzanine access in Valley View Elementary School’s kitchen and mechanical room.  These areas were becoming slippery due to dust, grease and other substances, so a safe climbing surface was needed.

The Solution:

Twenty four pieces of 1-1/4” diameter x 25” long cut to size 6061 aluminum ladder rungs coated in Grade 2 aluminum were ordered for the school.  By ordering the ladder rungs to fit their specifications, the ladder rungs were easy to install in the field.  Ladder rungs can also be ordered in stock sizes to fabricate later on.  Aluminum ladder rungs are lightweight and corrosion resistant.  The aluminum coating naturally forms an oxide that protects against rust and corrosion making it an excellent choice for applications where a durable, lightweight material is needed.

Ladder rungs can be ordered in either round or square shapes and in thicknesses of 3/4” or 1” sizes to fit a variety of applications.  The patented SlipNOT® coating has an unmatched surface hardness and has a coefficient of friction 0.85 or greater.  SlipNOT® products exceed all requirements for coefficient of friction specified by ANSI, ASTM, ADA, NFPA, and OSHA.

The Impact:

SlipNOT®’s non-slip coating retains traction in any environment and the non-corrosive aluminum surface allows water, grease and other substances to come into contact with the ladders without causing rust or corrosion.  The cut to size pieces allowed for the rungs to be installed on site without having to worry about fabricating in the field.  SlipNOT® slip resistant aluminum ladder rungs instantly created a safe climbing surface and will help prevent slip and fall accidents at Valley View Elementary School.
