The Situation:

Decorative Panels International (DPI), a lumber manufacturer, needed to cover the slippery and dusty No. 1 press inspection table catwalk in order to keep their employees safe during production.  A strong, wear resistant solution was needed to withstand the substances and other environmental conditions.

The Solution:

SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring was contacted to provide a solution to their slippery situation.  A SlipNOT® sales representative determined that steel expanded metal, painted black, would provide them with the solution they needed.  Steel expanded metal is a strong metal substrate that can withstand the harsh conditions a lumber manufacturer contains, while the open diamond pattern would permit air and other harsh substances to drain through.  Slip resistant expanded metal is a cost effective solution to slippery problem areas as it can be retrofitted over existing flooring.  SlipNOT® non-slip expanded metal can be provided with the following finishes: mill, painted or hot dipped galvanized.  SlipNOT® suggested painting the expanded metal pieces black to blend in with the surroundings.

Decorative Panels International (DPI) ordered (1) piece of 48’’ x 96-3/4″ #9 steel expanded metal.  SlipNOT® custom cut the steel expanded metal piece to fit the job requirements and supplied it to DPI for final installation. 

The Impact:

The SlipNOT® steel expanded metal is providing the employees of DPI with a safe walking surface to utilize when doing final inspections on their products.  Steel expanded metal will continue to provide slip resistance for many years to come.
