The Situation:

Frito Lay, a manufacturer of a variety of corn chips, potato chips and other snack foods, needed to undergo a reconstruction on their existing stairs for shipping and receiving.  Due to contact with grease and oil from the processing machines, Frito Lay needed a slip resistant solution to ensure the safety and security of their employees.  The non-slip surface had to be durable enough to meet strict sanitary standards while still providing ease of cleaning and high traction.

The Solution:

Frito Lay contacted SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring looking for an ideal solution to their slippery situation.  Non-slip stainless steel stair covers were suggested because they can be easily retrofitted over the existing stairs.

Frito Lay required retrofit stainless steel plate stair covers to cover two (2) existing stairwells in the facility.  SlipNOT® provided (6) pieces of 1/4’’ x 10-1/2’’ x 36’’ 304 stainless steel stair covers for one stairwell and (6) pieces of 3/16’’ x 9-3/4’’ x 30’’ 304 stainless steel stair covers for the other stairwell.  The first set of stair covers were formed with a 1-1/4’’ nosing and 1-1/4’’ riser; the second set of stair covers were formed with 1’’ riser and 1’’ nosing.  Stair covers with SlipNOT® would not only provide an easy retrofit over existing stairs, but a permanent slip resistant solution that can withstand harsh chemicals and elements that are prominent in food processing facilities.

Frito Lay received the stainless steel stair covers from SlipNOT® within two (2) weeks of ordering the material.  This helped Frito Lay move along quickly with the installation process effectively preventing any slip and falls.
