The Situation:

The Engineering Services Supervisor of Good Humor-Breyers® a division of Unilever, the largest manufacturer and marketer of branded packaged ice cream and frozen novelty products in the U.S., was looking to coat 1/2” thick x 10” dia. stainless steel production floor drain covers with a non-slip surface.

The Solution:

Good Humor-Breyers® sent SlipNOT® two 1/2” thick x 10” diameter stainless steel drain covers to have coated with the SlipNOT® non-slip stainless steel surface.  SlipNOT® can either coat customer supplied material or provide customers with material that is custom formed in order to meet specific project requirements.

SlipNOT® slip resistant drain covers keep workers safe and increase productivity by reducing injury and liability.  SlipNOT® products are NSF approved and exceed all requirements for coefficient of friction specified by ANSI, ASTM, ADA, NFPA, and OSHA and are easily cleaned by standard methods such as power washing and brushing.

The Engineering Services Supervisor planned to assess the two drain covers under a trial basis; once they were proven to be the solution Good Humor-Breyers® was looking for they would send the facility’s remaining drain covers to be coated with the SlipNOT® stainless steel surface.

The Impact:

The two drain covers were coated and re-installed at the South Plant Production Floor.  Once the assessment period was completed Good Humor-Breyers® concluded the SlipNOT® non-slip surface was more durable and slip-resistant than any other substitute they had tried in the past.  Not only did Good Humor have the remaining production floor drain covers sent to SlipNOT® to be coated with the non-slip stainless steel surface but they also purchased SlipNOT® non-slip stainless steel rung covers, stainless steel hand rails and steel grating treads.
