WEBSITE
The Situation:
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) has been in contact with SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring for the past year to address the current slippery conditions of their road plates. LADWP evaluated SlipNOT® products coefficient of friction among other characteristics and determined the SlipNOT® slip resistant road plates would be the preeminent choice to ensure public safety in wet conditions.
The Solution:
LADWPs concern for public safety is of the upmost importance and in order to address the issues of the road plates throughout the City of Los Angeles, they purchased 1-1/2" and 1” thick steel anti-slip road plates.
SlipNOT® worked with several employees and engineers in the City of Los Angeles to determine what would work best for their needs. After many conversations, ASTM testing by an independent laboratory and ultimate approvals, LADWP ordered stock size slip resistant road plates with the most aggressive Grade 3 anti-slip coating applied. Grade 3 (Coarse) is the recommendation for all utility applications.
The Impact:
Various utility districts and municipalities throughout North America require a non-slip surface on the road plates. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is addressing the slip resistant standard for road plates throughout the city by providing a safe and durable walking surface for pedestrians and vehicle traffic.
