The Situation:

In January 2009 Magnox North Sites contacted SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring regarding non slip products for the Chapelcross power station located near Dumfries in southwest Scotland. After discussing the options with a Sales Representative, Magnox determined SlipNOT® steel grade 3 plate would be the right option for their need. The application for the SlipNOT® slip resistant plate was to give extra grip on a floor for the drive wheel of an electric Tug which pulls our 50 ton fuel flasks. The Tug wheel was slipping on the floor. The grade 3 coarse skid resistant product was ideal for this situation.

The Solution:

SlipNOT® Before actually purchasing the SlipNOT® non-slip material, the Safety Engineer from Magnox discovered that the flask brakes were binding and when the brakes were fully released the tug was able to pull the flasks more easily. After the brake issue was resolved the Safety Engineer felt that they no longer needed SlipNOT® material to settle the issue. As a precautionary measure and/or if the problem resurfaced, he decided to order the plate because the

SlipNOT® material was ideal for their problem.

The Impact:

Magnox North Sites was very pleased with SlipNOT®‘s customer service and said that the entire transaction was very smooth. The Safety Engineer from Magnox Chapelcross request that SlipNOT® send further information and SlipNOT® samples to the safety engineers within their larger corporation Magnox North Site. They felt SlipNOT®‘s non slip coating was extremely slip resistant and would be a benefit in future applications within their organization.
