Non-Slip Stainless Steel Plates for Applied Minds KiraVan

Stainless Steel Truck Platform
  • The Situation:

Applied Minds, LLC is an American company that was founded in 2000 by Danny Hills and Bran Ferren, who were former Disney Imagineers. They supply products and services in software, aerospace, entertainment, electronics, biotechnology, and architectural design. Applied minds has provided services for companies including General Motors, Intel, Sony, and more.

While they supply a vast array of products, the KiraVan is probably the most extravagant vessel Applied Minds has to offer. The KiraVan was inspired by Farren’s daughter, Kira, wanting to provide her with the ultimate expedition vehicle. Today the van is a fully custom-designed truck, capable of a 2,000 mile journey on virtually any terrain without having to refuel. It’s fully equipped with a bathroom, upscale kitchen, access to any type of communication imaginable, and so much more.

  • The Solution:

The extravagant design and planning did not overlook safety. SLIPNOT Metal Safety Flooring was contacted by Applied Minds for a non-slip custom solution to the back of the vehicle. Applied Minds sent (7) various sized ¼” thick stainless steel plates that had to be masked off in diagonal sections, and coated with SLIPNOT’s Grade 2 304 stainless steel surface. The plates were shipped back to Applied Minds in less than two weeks.

  • The Impact

Feedback from Applied Minds has been extremely positive. On this specific application, customers and workers can access the controls and compartments located on the back of the truck without the risk of slipping and falling. The design company can expect a long-lasting slip resistant surface for years to come.
