PROJECT OVERVIEW
Steel tread plate retrofitted over bare metal grating

SOLUTION
2,200 square feet of steel tread plate with Grade 2 surface applied

The Situation:

A reputable supplier and grating fabricator was contacted and hired from a well-known power plant in East China, MI in regards to retrofitting some existing slippery grating with tread plate.

The Solution:

The renowned power plant, which utilizes a two-story building, needed to retrofit the existing slippery flooring with a safe and durable slip resistant product.  A sales representative from SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring was contacted to finalize the details required to retrofit the existing grating.

Steel tread plate coated with SlipNOT® Grade 2 steel on steel slip resistant coating was the solution that the power plant determined would be the best possible option.  2,200 square feet of steel tread plate was sent to SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring from a grating fabricator who already cut and fabricated the dimensions needed to cover the existing flooring of the two-story building.

SlipNOT® Grade 2 (Medium) slip resistant coating was chosen for the steel tread plate because of the superior slip resistance in all directions and the extreme durability that it is able to withstand.  SlipNOT® products can be completely submerged in oils; greases or any types of liquids and still maintain its unsurpassed slip resistance qualities.

Typically, SlipNOT® provides the slip resistant coating on smooth plates instead of tread plate, but the prominent power company believed that the tread plate with the slip resistant coating applied would be a better fit for the slippery flooring needs and provide extreme slip resistance.  Smooth plate coated with the SlipNOT® surface will not wear unevenly because of the 100% surface coverage, whereas tread plate can wear unevenly and smooth over time.   The SlipNOT® surface applied to the tread plate will ensure slip resistance, but cannot prevent from the uneven wear and tear over time.

The Impact:

The steel tread plate was installed easily and instantaneously created a slip resistant walking surface for all employees at the power plant.  Not only are the employees provided with safety, they are reassured for many years to come.   The tread plate coated with SlipNOT® was the ideal solution for the slippery flooring.
