The Situation:

Boeing Commercial Airplane Group in Auburn, WA required removable steel diamond plate flooring around several ecospeed machines at their facility.  The removable diamond plate flooring needed to be easily removable so that the utility trenches below the machines could be cleaned and readily accessible.  Boeing also required slip resistance for all walking surfaces around the machines.

The Solution:

During the renovation project, that included the removal of several machines and installation of new foundations and ecospeed machines, SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring anti slip steel surface was incorporated into the new utility trenches.  Boeing required several sections of steel diamond plate flooring with the unsurpassed SlipNOT® slip resistant surface applied. Generally, SlipNOT® does not apply the slip resistant coating to diamond plate flooring; preferably, it is applied to smooth substrates due to the uniformity and level-walking surface provided.  SlipNOT® prefers smooth surfaced substrates because the shoe to surface contact is a total impact whereas diamond plate flooring only allows minimal shoe to surface contact on the raised portions of the diamond patterns only.  SlipNOT® provided the diamond plate flooring because it was requested and required by The Boeing Company as the substrate for the utility trench covers.

A fabrication company hired by The Boeing Company contacted a sales representative from SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring to order and complete the requirements of Boeing.  One hundred and forty two (142) pieces of 3/8” x various cut to size steel diamond plate flooring were ordered with the file hard non-skid SlipNOT® surface applied and shipped promptly, per detailed prints supplied by the fabricator.  SlipNOT® strives to ensure punctual lead times and delivery for all clients.

The steel diamond plate flooring alone provides subtle slip resistance, but when SlipNOT®’s unparalleled slip resistant surface is applied to the diamond plate flooring, it provides added durability and slip resistance in all directions, plus extreme protection for workers and pedestrians.  The added durability of the non-slip SlipNOT® surface will increase traction and longevity for the diamond plate flooring, which sometimes can be slick or wear unevenly.

The Impact:

The utility trench drains around the ecospeed machines are not only acting as easily accessible trench covers, but also a permanent solution to slips, trips and falls.  The diamond plate flooring with the SlipNOT® steel anti slip surface applied is continually providing slip resistance in every direction as well as ensuring a durable and safe walking surface for all employees.
