The Situation:

Rolls Royce is moving its outdoor jet engine testing facility from Hucknall, United Kingdom to the John C. Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.  Included with the move is $42 million dollars in upgrades and construction to the existing structure.  The upgrades of the newly renovated facility will be used to test development and prototype jet engines for performance, noise, validation of safety systems and other factors.   One of the upgrades needed for safety is retrofitting existing slippery outdoor grating with a slip resistant product that would provide safety in all directions, as well as a solid walking surface for employees.

The Solution:

SlipNOT® galvanized plates were chosen for many reasons.  With the existing slippery bar grating being an outdoor application that is constantly being exposed to oils, greases and liquids, a permanent slip resistant and corrosion resistant product was mandatory.  SlipNOT® galvanized plates met and exceeded all of the non-slip safety requirements for Rolls Royce North America.

SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring provided four (4) 1/4” cut to size galvanized plates to Rolls Royce North America to be placed directly over the existing slippery grating areas.  The galvanized plates were provided with 7/16” countersunk holes for 3/8” flat head screws for easy installation and attachment to the grating.

Rolls Royce North America wanted a safe solution that would provide 100% slip resistance as well as providing a solid walking surface for employees.  SlipNOT® galvanized plates provided both.

The Impact:

SlipNOT® galvanized plates were installed with ease and immediately created a safe, retrofitted walking surface for employees in the jet engine testing facility.  Although SlipNOT® galvanized plates were a minor portion to the renovations and construction upgrades to the John C. Stennis Space Center, the galvanized plates will play a major impact in employee safety for many years.
