The Situation:
Established in 1917, a major North American postal operation changed the world of communication. Allowing people to communicate over distance has shaped America and made possibilities endless. Various areas within the organization, such as dock levelers and scissor lifts, ramps, stairs and platforms could become potentially dangerous when wet. In order to protect valued employees, the postal operation decided to address these slip and fall concerns by contacting SlipNOT®.
The Solution:
The mail loading dock platform is attached by a hinge that allows the ramp to be lowered to the desired height. The mail truck is then backed into place and the ramp is lowered. Mail is then transferred from the truck into the facility, or vice versa. SlipNOT® recommended 3/8” aluminum plates for these ramps due to aluminum’s lightweight properties. This solution would allow for slip resistance, a corrosion resistant surface and the lightweight properties required for this project.
The Impact:
SlipNOT® slip resistant aluminum plates were installed on loading docks and dock levelers to keep workers safe. The SlipNOT® plates give workers a piece of mind and ability to get the job done effectively, without worry of an accident. To address the other slippery areas, SlipNOT® stainless steel and galvanized steel plates were used for outdoor applications due to weather resistant properties and an unmatched surface hardness. The SlipNOT® plates have proven to withstand the high volume of mail and heavy traffic in the busy postal operation. No matter what the application or requirements, SlipNOT® has the material and product to meet the needs of the most complex projects.
