The Situation:

A well-known fabricator of walkways and stairs for the wine and beverage industry was in need of a slip resistant surface after fabricating a small stairway.  The company has been operating for 29 years, providing industry-leading technology and experience to the wine and beverage industries.  The fabricator is known for designing walkways and stairs to access elevated winery equipment such as wine tanks and wine presses.  They deal with public access codes which require decking and stairs to be a solid surface.  With this in mind, they fabricated a small stairway to a receiving area platform at a local winery. In order to keep the employees safe, a slip resistant surface was required.

The Solution:

SlipNOT® provided 3/16” x 52” x 75-9/16” and 3/16” x 11-13/16” x 51” Grade 2 aluminum on aluminum Grip Plate®’s with a mill finish.  This aluminum Grip Plate® was custom fabricated to stair treads on the winery’s platform.  The local winery needed a durable solution due to all of the heavy equipment being transferred throughout the building.

SlipNOT®’s aluminum plates have a coefficient of friction greater than or equal to 0.85 and exceed all the requirements for an ASTM / ANSI slip resistant surface.

The Impact:

The fabricator installed aluminum custom fabricated plates to the local winery’s platform and stairs.  These versatile aluminum plates are corrosion resistant and provide slip resistance even while wet.  SlipNOT®’s aluminum plates met the public access codes required and gave the employee’s a sure footed walking surface.  The fabricator believes “this will change the way we look at Public Access areas."
