The Situation:
A & A Metal Products is a manufacturing facility located in Evansville, IN. The company handles various tooling and automation needs in their 27,000 square foot facility, whether it be small scale tool and die work, fabrication, or a design-build custom automation project. A fabrication manager at A & A Metal Products contacted SlipNOT® to provide slip resistant plates around machines in their facility that come in contact with hydraulic oil. Having slip resistant plates surrounding these machines would protect workers and will give them peace of mind while working in areas that tend to become very slippery. They had used SlipNOT® in the past and were very pleased with the durability of the product and chose to purchase more.
The Solution:
A SlipNOT® sales representative determined that steel on steel Grade 2 painted black would work best in this situation. SlipNOT® steel has a file hard surface hardened to between 55 – 63 on the Rockwell “C” scale and bonded at over 4,000 psi. It can also be completely submerged in oil and still retain its slip resistance. The steel was then painted black to guard it from corrosion and to protect the non-slip surface. The plates were able to be cut-to-sizes 1/4” x 20-1/4” x 74”, 1/4” x 20-1/4” x 78”, and 1/4” x 20-1/4” x 39” to retrofit into the existing spaces in their machines.
The Impact:
The customized plates allowed A & A Metal Products to obtain a cost effective solution, as well as create the safe working environment they’ve been striving for. They used other products in the past to provide slip resistance, such as paint with grit in it, but it was only a temporary solution. The fabrication manager said after trial and error they use our products whenever possible, and he also stated “We have had your product in our facility for the last 15 years, and it has held up really well.”
