The Situation:

An architect was contracted by the United States Postal Service (USPS) to design the modernization of an automation room in the New York facility.  The automation room uses robotic carriers in place of the original mail sorting machines.  The USPS previously had diamond plate that covered the 52' 2" long x 4' 3" wide trench that held conveyors.  However, the diamond plate made it difficult for the robotic carriers to get back and forth with the mail. The USPS thought about using concrete on the renovation but the cure time was too long.  After a lot of research the architect specified SlipNOT® in order to provide slip resistance, durability and to get the job done in a timely manner.

The Solution:

The general contractor contacted SlipNOT® to order the material necessary to install and complete the project.  SlipNOT® provided 12 pieces of 1/2" x 48" x 51" Grade 2 steel on steel plate, 2 pieces of 1/2" steel plate, and 6 pieces of various size steel plates.  The SlipNOT® steel trench plate in various sizes was provided with side angles that are typically used as legs to hold the plate over a trench and level to a walking surface.  For easy installation, SlipNOT® also provided the slip resistant steel trench plates with four 3/4" countersunk holes to fit 11/16" flat head bolts.

The Impact:

The SlipNOT® non-slip steel trench plates were installed at the United States Post Office with ease creating an even slip resistant walking surface.  SlipNOT® met the short time restraints, made it possible for the robotic carriers to get back and forth and covered the conveyor trench with a slip resistant surface.  SlipNOT® trench plates are durable, low maintenance and provide safety in every step.
