The Situation:

Hormel Foods Corp./Osceola Foods Inc., a meat packing plant, was looking for a non-slip solution to their floor stands.  The floor stands were currently constructed of fiberglass grit top sheeting that was wearing quickly in these heavily used areas of the facility.  Hormel Foods decided to contact to SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring to provide a retrofit solution or replacement solution for this slippery working condition.

The Solution:

After working with a SlipNOT® sales representative, Hormel Foods and SlipNOT® decided on using non-slip stainless steel plate for this application.  SlipNOT® stainless steel floor is an ideal solution for environments where elements such as oil, grease and cleaning solutions are common.  Stainless steel floor is easy to clean, sanitary, aesthetically pleasing and wear resistant after many years of use in harsh conditions.

Two (2) pieces of 1/4’’ x 29-1/2’’ x 84’’ 304 stainless steel plate and one (1) piece of 1/4’’ x 29-1/2’’ x 60’’ 304 stainless steel plate were ordered for the floor stand application.  SlipNOT® stainless steel floor is registered by NSF International for use in food processing facilities.  SlipNOT® non-grit stainless steel floor will not contaminate the food processing machines nor contaminate the end product.   Once the stainless steel plate pieces were cut to the appropriate sizes needed for the floor stand application, SlipNOT® shipped them to Hormel Foods to replace the fiberglass grit surface at the plant.  Unlike fiberglass and diamond plate, SlipNOT® stainless steel floor provides an even working /walking surface that will last for years longer than traditional slip resistant products.

The Impact:

The customized non-slip stainless steel plate pieces were installed on the floor stands at the plant.  The non-slip stainless steel floor is providing a non-slip working surface even after much foot traffic and contact with harsh elements.  The maintenance engineer at Hormel Foods is pleased with the results and happy that they spent the extra money for a permanent non-slip solution.
