The Situation:

Various Tyson Foods locations have been working with SlipNOT® for years to ensure safety in the slippery food processing facilities.  In this instance, Tyson Foods contacted SlipNOT® in order to cover existing slippery diamond plate stairs.  Water, fat, oil, grease and other slick substances are prevalent in many areas of the plant.

The Solution:

To address the dangerous diamond plate, retrofitting SlipNOT® stainless steel stair treads over the existing assembly was the clear choice.  SlipNOT® stainless steel stair treads were used for sanitary reasons, along with corrosion and chemical resistance.  SlipNOT® provided Tyson Foods with various sized Grade 2 stair treads per the drawings provided.  Each stairway in the facility was a different size so the stair treads were made custom to the customer’s specifications.

The Impact:

SlipNOT® stair treads retrofitted over the unsafe diamond plate stairs immaculately, creating a durable, slip resistant walking surface with a long service life.  Keeping workers safe is a main priority at Tyson Foods.  The SlipNOT® slip resistant stair treads worked so well that Tyson will be slowly replacing many other stairways with SlipNOT®’s advanced slip resistant technology.  SlipNOT® has been frequently used on worker platforms, drain covers, ladder rungs, along conveyors, among many other applications.
