How to Order SlipNOT® Perforated Metal

July 20, 2012

SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring provides high traction non-slip perforated metal utilized in industries such as manufacturing and automotive, food and beverage, oil and gas and infrastructure.  Perforated metal is utilized for applications including but not limited to stair treads, flooring, trench covers, bicycle safe lanes and others.

SlipNOT® is an all metal plasma stream deposition process applied to perforated plate that creates a file hard surface of peaks and valleys in a random cross hatched matrix.  The SlipNOT® surface has a coefficient of friction that is greater than or equal to 0.85 and exceeds all agency recommendations.  For applications that require the drainage of grating but the shoe to surface contact of plate, perforated metal is the optimal solution.

How to order perforated metal:

  1. Select a material
    • Steel, stainless steel or aluminum
  2. Choose a finish:
    • Mill finish, painted finish or steel can be hot dipped galvanized for protection against corrosion.
  3. SlipNOT® perforated metals are available in three different grades:
    • Grade 1 (Fine): Grade 1 is used in light duty applications or areas where minimum surface roughness is desired.
    • Grade 2 (Medium): Grade 2 is used in nearly every situation.
    • Grade 3 (Coarse): Grade 3 is used in the most demanding environments. Provides the maximum durability and longevity. Grade 3 is only offered in our steel SlipNOT® surface. Not available in aluminum and stainless steel surfaces.
  4. Determine quantity
    • The amount of perforated metal needed
  5. Determine if you would like stock sizes
    • 4’ x 10’ sheets
  6. Decide if custom sizes are the best solution
    • Specify length x width
    • Thickness: 1/8”, 3/16”. 1/4” or per specifications
  7. Choose pattern
    • 1/4″ diameter on 3/8” staggered center
    • 3/8” diameter on 9/16” or 5/8” centers
    • 1/2” diameter on 11/16” centers
    • 9/16” diameter on 3/4” centers
      • Wide variety of options are available
  8. Select margins:
    • Specify side and end margins (minimum, 1”, 2”, etc.)
      • Note: Actual margin sizes subject to tooling availability
  9. Provide where material will be supplied by
    • You must specify if you will be providing the perforated metals (customer supplied) or if you will be using SlipNOT® supplied perforated metals
  10. Please specify or include drawings of fabrication
    • Examples: forming, shearing, cut to shape/pattern
  11. Choose installation method
    • Bolting
      • Decide size and location of counter sunk holes
    • Welding
      • Provide any details applicable
    • Consult a structural engineer to determine load table and design related questions
