The Situation:

The Coca-Cola Company has come a long way since selling its original fountain beverage for 5 cents a glass in 1886.  Now, with bottling being done by over 300 facilities all over the world, the Coca-Cola Company has grown into one of the most recognized brands to date.  An outside contractor that has done previous work for the Atlanta Coca-Cola plant with SlipNOT®, contacted their sales representative to provide a non-slip solution for their packer platform line..

The Solution:

The contractor provided specific drawings of the pieces needed for the packer platform line.  19W4 Steel grating coated with the grade 2 steel surface was chosen for the platform.  The pieces were cut to size based on the drawings and were able to be easily installed in the field.  Stair treads formed from steel plate were also utilized for the packer platform line.  The treads were cut based on the specifications listed on each drawing, with two ½” diameter through holes that would be utilized during installation.  The stair treads and grating were all galvanized after the slip resistant surface was applied.  The galvanizing process allows for the steel surface to be protected against rust and corrosion.

The 19W4 spacing of the grating allows for liquid and other debris to fall through below.  The SlipNOT® non-slip coating created a completely 100% slip resistance surface in all directions, providing safety and security for anyone working on the platform

The Impact:

The Coca-Cola Company continues to rely on SlipNOT® products for the many projects in their facilities.  Coca-Cola and the outside contractor can continue to rely on SlipNOT® products to help prevent slip and fall accidents in their bottling facilities.  The galvanized treads and grating will provide a high traction surface that will last for years to come.

The Situation:

A well-known fabricator of walkways and stairs for the wine and beverage industry was in need of a slip resistant surface after fabricating a small stairway.  The company has been operating for 29 years, providing industry-leading technology and experience to the wine and beverage industries.  The fabricator is known for designing walkways and stairs to access elevated winery equipment such as wine tanks and wine presses.  They deal with public access codes which require decking and stairs to be a solid surface.  With this in mind, they fabricated a small stairway to a receiving area platform at a local winery. In order to keep the employees safe, a slip resistant surface was required.

The Solution:

SlipNOT® provided 3/16” x 52” x 75-9/16” and 3/16” x 11-13/16” x 51” Grade 2 aluminum on aluminum Grip Plate®’s with a mill finish.  This aluminum Grip Plate® was custom fabricated to stair treads on the winery’s platform.  The local winery needed a durable solution due to all of the heavy equipment being transferred throughout the building.

SlipNOT®’s aluminum plates have a coefficient of friction greater than or equal to 0.85 and exceed all the requirements for an ASTM / ANSI slip resistant surface.

The Impact:

The fabricator installed aluminum custom fabricated plates to the local winery’s platform and stairs.  These versatile aluminum plates are corrosion resistant and provide slip resistance even while wet.  SlipNOT®’s aluminum plates met the public access codes required and gave the employee’s a sure footed walking surface.  The fabricator believes “this will change the way we look at Public Access areas."

The Situation:

General Mills is among the world’s largest food producers,  manufacturing some of the worlds favorite brands such as Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, and Cheerios.  General Mills contacted SlipNOT® to provide a solution for a cross over platform over their production line.  The platform allows team members to crossover the production line instead of walking around it.  Previously, the crossover platform was made out of bare stainess steel.  They had tried other non-slip products in the past to help eliminate the slick surface on the platform, but nothing would last.

The Solution:

SlipNOT® provided General Mills with stainless steel plates 1/8” x 23-1/2” x 67-3/4” coated in SlipNOT®’s Grade 2 (Medium) file hard slip resistant surface.  The plates were cut to size to allow installation with ease in the preexisting area.  SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring products are NSF registered for use in the food processing industry and have proven to be a durable and long-lasting solution for slip resistance and safety.

The Impact:

In food and beverage facilities, productivity and worker safety are important, as well as cleanliness and sanitation. The stainless steel plates offer the slip resistance and safety General Mills was seeking for their employees, as well as providing a long lasting solution for the cross over platform.  The plates on the platform provide a safe way to cross the production line.

The Situation:

McMenamins Pubs and Breweries owns and operates more than 50 establishments in Oregon and the state of Washington and is the sixth largest producer of microbrewed beer in the Pacific Northwest.  The Facility Coordinator of McMenamins Pubs & Breweries in Centralia, WA contacted SlipNOT® to come up with a solution to an existing slippery rubber staircase, the rubber was splitting and bubbling.  The stairway leads from the restaurant down to the brewery where there is often steam, spills and water prevalent.

The Solution:

Instead of having to incur the cost of replacing all of the treads, which the client assumed was the only solution, SlipNOT® proposed stair nosing which is a more cost efficient solution with minimal down time.  SlipNOT® provided McMenamins Pubs & Breweries with 2” x 2” x 1/8” x 38-1/2” 6061-T6 slip resistant aluminum angles with three 5/16” countersunk holes for installation.  Countersunk holes were used for an easy bolt down installation, as well as a flush even walking surface.  The aluminum material was selected due to its lightweight and corrosion resistant properties.  Also, 1/8” plate is often used for angles to create a smooth transition and prevent a trip hazard.

The Impact:

SlipNOT® provided the most cost-efficient alternative to replacing the slippery rubber stairs in the McMenamins Pubs & Breweries facility.  The SlipNOT® aluminum nosing was easily retrofitted over the rubber stairs and provides an extremely slip resistant surface to the area of the stairs that becomes worn due to heavy traffic.  After the SlipNOT® aluminum angle was installed, the Facility Coordinator stated “I received your product exactly to spec, and I have been very pleased with the functionality and durability of your product.”

The Situation:

Virginia Poultry Growers is a turkey processing company that is committed to quality.  After previewing SlipNOT® products at a tradeshow the food processor contacted SlipNOT® for more information. Virginia Poultry Growers sought a sanitary, corrosion and chemical resistant, non-slip flooring solution for various areas throughout their plant.  Trenches, drains and floor scales required the maximum traction possible due to the extremely slippery environment in the plant.  Access liquids such as grease, fats, water, oil and other substances needed to drain regularly throughout the day.  Therefore, the plant was looking for a slip resistant product to ensure safety for employees.

The Solution:

Virginia Poultry Growers ordered three  9-1/4” x 9-1/4” 304 stainless steel plates fabricated with a 1” diameter hole to use as drain covers.  SlipNOT® also provided Virginia Poultry Growers with various sized stainless steel plates that were used as trench covers and around floor scales.  The poultry processor also used SlipNOT® stainless plates for drain cleanouts which are the basins where liquids and materials collect.

The Situation:

Kent Quality Foods, Inc., manufacturer of franks and sausages, had a existing platform with grating stair treads that were not providing a safe working surface for employees as they accessed machinery and equipment on a daily basis.  The oils, fats and greases from the franks and sausages constantly create a slick and dangerous walking surface for employees as they try to perform their daily duties and job responsibilities.  Kent Quality Foods, Inc. also needed to retrofit their existing drain covers with a durable slip resistant solution.

The Solution:

Kent Quality Foods, Inc. contacted SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring in regards to their retrofitting needs within their facility.  The existing slippery grating platforms, drain covers and grating treads were in good condition and did not need to be replaced.   The material was sent to SlipNOT® to have the stainless steel slip resistant coating applied to the walking surfaces of each piece of flooring.  The SlipNOT® stainless steel coating has been approved by NSF International for use in food processing facilities because of its ability to maintain a bacteria and contaminant free surface while maintaining slip resistance in all directions.

SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring strives to provide the best lead time possible.  The customer supplied stainless steel grating platform, grating treads and drain covers were coated with the non-slip Grade 2 stainless steel surface and shipped back to Kent Quality Foods, Inc. the next day.

The Situation:

Harsh elements such as meat bi-products, fat, grease and oil make meat processing plants a slippery work environment and a safety hazard for employees.  A major meat processing plant contacted one of their local fabricators, a company that provides facility design, concept lay out, equipment fabrication and design to the meat, dairy, beverage and pharmaceutical companies, to provide them with a slip resistant solution to these dangerous situations.

The Solution:

The fabricator found slip resistant handrails manufactured by SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring were the ideal solution for these meat processing facilities because of their durable slip resistant surface, complete surface coverage and simple installation techniques.  Stainless steel slip resistant handrails would not only ensure safety, but sanitation as well when coming in contact with harsh chemicals and substances.  These non-slip handrails are also 100% grit free, the surface will not chip or flake off.  SlipNOT® stainless steel handrails are NSF approved for use in the food processing industry.

The fabricator contacted SlipNOT® Metal Safety Flooring to purchase Grade 2 slip resistant stainless steel handrails, typically in 1-1/2’’ square stainless steel tubes and 20’ lengths.  The handrails were coated on all four sides to ensure employees a secure grip.  SlipNOT® can provide handrails in either round or square and 10’ or 20’ inch stock lengths.

They received the 20’ lengths of stainless steel handrails and cut them to size to fit a variety of handrail applications for the meat processing plants.  SlipNOT® slip resistant handrails are offered in stainless steel, aluminum and steel to provide gripping traction in a variety of industries, not only the food processing facilities.

The Impact:

SlipNOT® handrails have provided a permanent non-slip solution for meat processing plants.  The slip resistant stainless steel handrails provide instant relief for the employees and allow them to work without hesitation.

The Situation:

The Maintenance Planner of Tyson Foods®, the world’s largest processor and marketer of chicken, beef and pork, and the world’s second-largest food production company was looking to coat 1/2 “ x 12” x 12” stainless steel drain covers due to slip hazards in their cutting and processing areas.  The slip hazards were due to fat and other slippery substances that are created from cutting and processing meat.

The Solution:

Tyson Foods® sent SlipNOT® two 1/2” thick x 12” wide by 12” long stainless steel drain covers to have coated with SlipNOT® non-slip stainless steel coating. Tyson® could not pull all of their drain covers at once for coating so SlipNOT® recommended that Tyson® send two of their drain covers at a time.

Tyson Foods® was interested in SlipNOT® products because they are NSF approved and exceed all requirements for coefficient of friction specified by ANSI, ASTM, ADA, NFPA, and OSHA.  They also liked the fact that SlipNOT® products are easily cleaned by standard methods such as power washing and brushing.  Because SlipNOT® can either coat customer supplied drain covers or provide customers with material that is custom formed in order to meet specific project requirements, they were a perfect fit for this job.

The Impact:

The two non-slip drain covers were re-installed and worked great in the Tyson® facility.  SlipNOT® lasts years longer that painted-on, taped-on or other non-skid products, so these.  SlipNOT® slip resistant drain covers will keep workers safe and increase productivity by reducing injury and liability for years to come.  Tyson has utilized other SlipNOT® non-skid products, including mezzanines, crossovers, platforms, stair treads, and many other applications.
