SlipNOT® slip-resistant diamond plate stair treads can be retrofitted on top of dangerous diamond plate treads, keeping both workers and pedestrians safe. Common diamond plate stair treads without the SlipNOT® slip-resistant surface can create slippery stairways that lead to slip and fall accidents. SlipNOT® Expanded Metal-Grid Grip® (Grip Plate®) can be retrofitted over diamond plate stair treads to increase safety in these high traffic stairway areas. SlipNOT® stainless steel stair treads are NSF approved for use in the food processing industry. Diamond plate treads have been replaced by SlipNOT® stair treads in companies such as Campbell Soup, Ford, Mittal, and Caterpillar among others.
SlipNOT® slip-resistant stair treads are available in grating, plate, perforated plate and expanded metal. Stair treads are formed to specifications with risers and nosings or can be formed to a channel. SlipNOT® non slip tread covers are easily retrofitted over existing grating or unsafe diamond checker plate assemblies. They can be welded directly to current treads or stringers or can be bolted in place. Holes can be provided pre-drilled or drilled and countersunk in the field without harming the SlipNOT® surface. For retrofitting over concrete steps, treads are routinely mounted into masonry anchors.
Skid Resistance — Raised diamond plate treads wear uneven, creating an unsafe, slippery, work environment. SlipNOT® stair treads and covers are a permanent solution when it comes to reducing slip and fall accidents. SlipNOT® stair treads and covers are known for their durability and skid resistance because they do not wear uneven over time. Under the ASTM C1028 test, which measures the static coefficient of friction of ceramic tile and other surfaces under both wet and dry environments, our SlipNOT® galvanized grade 2 steel and aluminum stair treads rated higher than diamond plate treads in both conditions. In dry environments, our SlipNOT® galvanized grade 2 steel and aluminum were rated 1.09 and .98 respectively, while diamond plate treads were given a rating of only .63. Under wet conditions, our SlipNOT® galvanized grade 2 steel was rated .99 and again diamond plate treads fell short at a .63. Diamond plate treads not only rate behind SlipNOT® galvanized grade 2 steel and aluminum stair treads, diamond plate treads do not even meet The ADA recommendation for inclined surfaces which requires at least a .80 rating.
Food processing facilities such as ConAgra Foods have chosen SlipNOT® metal safety flooring products in order to keep workers on their feet. Boeing uses SlipNOT® non slip flooring surfaces to access their tooling platforms. Manufacturing companies use SlipNOT® slip-resistant flooring applications for maintenance areas and worker platforms where diamond plate treads could become dangerous.
