Slip Resistant Steel Walkway

Slip resistant steel walkway utilized in a Ford Automotive plant.

Ensuring worker safety is imperative in the workplace.  Walkways are installed and utilized in a variety of different facilities to provide workers with access to supplies, machinery and equipment.  Walkways can often become slippery and dangerous to workers from water, oil, lubricants and other particles.  To help provide workers with safety on the job, investing in a flooring solution such as a slip resistant steel walkway is an excellent choice.

A  SlipNOT® slip resistant steel walkway can be fabricated from a variety of materials:

  • Steel walkways are fabricated from solid slip resistant plate and can be sheared, welded, flame cut, torch cut, laser or water-jet cut, plasma cut, countersunk or drilled for use in the field or shop.
  • Steel grating walkways are ideal for applications where drainage is needed.  Slip resistant steel walkways fabricated from grating provide safety in harsh environments where heat, oil and other lubricants are utilized.  Steel grating allows the liquids to drain to help avoid build up on the slip resistant steel walkway.
  • Steel expanded metal is a cost efficient material for slip resistant steel walkways.  Steel expanded metal easily retrofits over existing slippery floors.  Slip resistant steel walkways manufactured from expanded metal still allow drainage of liquids and other debris.
  • Steel perforated metal plate is another material that slip resistant steel walkways can be fabricated from.  Perforated plate provides the solid surface area of steel plate with the flow though benefits of grating and expanded metal.   Another benefit to steel perforated metal plate is that it flexes when walked on to prevent worker fatigue to create a more efficient work environment.

SlipNOT® slip resistant steel walkways have a file hard surface between 55-63 on the Rockwell “C” scale and a bond strength of at least 4,000 psi.  SlipNOT® steel plate also meets and exceeds all requirements for an ASTM/ANSI slip resistant surface and is registered slip resistant with Underwriters Laboratories per the UL 410 standard.  SlipNOT®’s coefficient of friction is greater than or equal to .85.

A slip resistant steel walkway can be utilized in a variety of applications.  SlipNOT® steel walkways have been utilized at airports, steel mills, schools, bridges and roads.  Companies that have utilized SlipNOT® steel walkways include USPS, LaGuardia Airport, Johnson Space Center, Universal Studios and Ford Motor Company among others.

SlipNOT® slip resistant flooring products can help make a slippery walkway a safe and efficient walking area.  A slip resistant steel walkway is extremely versatile and can be used in a variety of applications and industries.
