Aluminum Plate Replaces Decking at International Paper

Non Slip Aluminum Decking
  • The Situation:

International Paper is a global leader in the paper and packaging industry with operations in North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and North Africa. International Paper produces uncoated papers, pulp, recycled paper and industrial packaging. They also offer printing, packaging, graphic arts, maintenance and industrial products through their North American distribution business. Having safe work environments for employees is extremely important to International Paper. Recently, a manufacturing plant in Rockford, IL installed decking on their corrugator, which was uneven and slippery, causing employees to trip and fall. An employee at this plant researched different slip resistant and durable products and came across SLIPNOT Metal Safety Flooring.

  • The Solution:

SLIPNOT provided 1/8” x 59” x 112” 6061-T6 and 1/8” x 59” x 74” 6061-T6 Grade 2 aluminum plates with a mill finish for the application. The aluminum plates were easily installed and employees said that the footing is much better and should present no further safety concerns. In choosing SLIPNOT ’s aluminum plates, International Paper gained a durable, lightweight and corrosion resistant product.

Aluminum plates go through the SLIPNOT process where they are coated with a plasma spray hatch matrix. The coating bonds to the aluminum plate, creating a file hard surface. SLIPNOT’s non-slip products have also been utilized in similar industries such as the CA Recycling Center and First Quality Tissue.

  • The Impact:

Aluminum is highly versatile and can be formed into any shape imaginable. Its malleability, ductility and density make it the perfect solution for countless applications. International Paper not only has a great alloy, but a file hard and long lasting slip resistant surface.
