Oklahoma State University (OSU) was founded in 1890 as a land-grant, sun-grant and coeducational public research university. OSU was known as one of the best western colleges in 2011 and the highest rated veterinarian college in the United States. OSU’s cowboys/cowgirls are very proud of their athletic heritage, which includes 50 national championships and first in the Big 12 Conference. During the 2006-2007 academic years, OSU’s athletic squads reached the top 10 in 10 different sports. OSU wanted to make sure that their university was held at high standards, which is why a safety manager contacted a steel supplier in regards to a slip resistant solution to their slick existing ladders.
SlipNOT® provided Oklahoma State University with 54 pieces of 1”dia. X 18-3/8” Grade 2 steel ladder rungs and 4 pieces of 1” dia. X 36” steel ladder rungs. By installing SlipNOT®’s slip resistant steel ladder rungs, OSU now has OSHA recommended ladders. The OSHA ladders safely lead athletes to their filming mezzanine as well as the top of the roof. SlipNOT®’s slip resistant products far exceed OSHA’s 0.50 recommendation, with a coefficient of friction between 0.89 and 1.2, both wet and dry.
SlipNOT® has installed non-slip ladder rungs throughout other universities such as the University of Portland. SlipNOT® provided Grade 2 steel ladder rungs for Portland’s newly constructed bell tower. This created a safe climbing surface for workers as they now easily access the copula and chimes.
SlipNOT®’s steel anti-slip ladder rungs provided a safe and durable climbing surface for athletes and employees. The football players, coaches and personnel do not have to worry about slip and fall accidents when accessing the mezzanine or roof top, due to their new OSHA ladders.
