The Maintenance Planner of the world’s largest processor and marketer of chicken, beef and pork, and the world’s second-largest food production company was noticing increasing slip hazards in their cutting and processing areas. The slip hazards were due to fat and other slippery substances that are created from cutting and processing meat.
To resolve this issue, they wanted to make their stainless steel drain covers non-slip.

The poultry processor made an appointment with our slip and fall prevention experts to have SLIPNOT technology applied in a factory-controlled environment. Two 1/2” thick x 12” wide by 12” long stainless steel drain covers were treated with non-slip surface technologies. The company could not pull all of their drain covers at once for coating so SLIPNOT experts worked with them to develop a project plan where they could send in two of their drain covers at a time, cycling until all the covers were non-slip

They were interested in SLIPNOT products because they are NSF approved and exceed all requirements for coefficient of friction specified by ANSI, ASTM, ADA, NFPA, and OSHA. They also liked the fact that SLIPNOT specialized safety products and surface technologies are easily cleaned by standard methods such as power washing and brushing. Because SLIPNOT can either coat customer-supplied drain covers or provide customers with material that is custom formed in order to meet specific project requirements, they were a perfect fit for this job.

The project was a success and non-slip drain covers were re-installed and worked great in the poultry facility.
