Crowley Food LLC has been producing a variety of quality dairy products for over 100 years. Now a part of HP Hood, Crowley is one of the largest branded dairy operators in the United States. Throughout upstate New York, customers can count on the fresh taste of Crowley milk, sour cream, and yogurt along with a variety of other dairy products. HP Hood employs approximately 3,000 people and keeping these employees safety is a top priority. The maintenance supervisor at Crowley contacted SlipNOT®, needing to improve the safety of stainless work platforms on tanks used in dairy production. The solution needed to be cleanable as well as extremely slip resistant.
SlipNOT® provided Crowley with three customized 1/4” x 12” x 19-1/4” grade 2 304 stainless steel Grip Plates® with three 1-7/8” kickplates and one 1-1/2” nosing with mill finish. Adding slip resistance to the top of the platform on the tanks provides employees with a safe place to stand while working on the tanks for long periods of time. By choosing stainless steel for these work platforms, Crowley will have minimal maintenance and a corrosion/chemical resistant walking surface. The stainless work platforms are durable, attractive, and will not wear like temporary products.
Crowley installed the stainless work platforms as top plates above ladders easily with little to no downtime. The maintenance supervisor stated the stainless steel floor plates are a “great product.” Crowley has found them to be very non slip and at the same time cleanable. The SlipNOT® coated work platforms will continue to keep employees safe while working on the tank ladders.
